Right Relationships

Heavenly Father, we thank you God for the relationships that we have in our life.  All of them have helped shape us into the person we are today.  We thank you God for your love and that you are our ever present help.  You are our Rock, Redeemer, Way Maker, Provider, Protector and an Amazing, Awesome Father to your children.  Lord, we bring every one of our relationships under your submission for your will to be done in them.  Holy Spirit lead us into taking action toward being in a right relationship with our Heavenly Father.  Where there is sin, let us confess and repent and walk away from it.  Where change needs to occur in us, change us so that we become more like you, Father.   Lord, we draw close to you today, knowing you will draw close to us as you have promised in your word (James 4:8).  Reveal to us your desires for our lives and take us deeper into a more intimate relationship with you.  We want to know you and see you working in every area of our lives.  Teach us what we need to know to be better stewards with what you give us.  Let us always be humble and have a teachable spirit and be open to learning and growing more in you.  As we get into right relationship with you, help us to honestly examine all of our relationships for us to see them as you would want us to view them.  Father, you know exactly the relationships that we hurt from the most.  We need you to help us forgive those that have hurt us and deliver us from painful memories from our past.  Supply us with the healing we need to walk in the gift of forgiveness from our past wounds so that we are free to embrace the present.   Lord show us how to live as your word says in Colossians 3:12-14 Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.  Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.

Lord, give us discernment on what relationships that we need to seperate ourselves from.  In order for these relationships to end, we need you Lord to give us strength to end the relationship, courage to stick with the decision and complete the severing of the relationship and guidance on the best way possible to disassociate ourselves with them.  It says in 1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be so deceived and misled! Evil companionships (communion, associations) corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and character. God we no longer want to be influenced by people who could corrupt our hearts, minds or even our relationship with you. God, from this day on, help us to choose all our relationships wisely, so we won’t be led out of alignment of your will for our lives.  It says in Proverbs 12:26  The righteous man is a guide to his neighbor, But the way of the wicked leads them astray.  Lord, let us no longer be deceived by people or the connections that we have with others.  No longer allowing our eyes to be blinded by the sense of loyalty due to the length of the relationship or the help that was provided in the past from the relationship that needs to end.

Lord, for the relationships that you reveal to us that we need to continue with that are difficult, please bring healing, peace, reconciliation and restoration to those connections.  Father we know that two cannot walk together unless they have agreed to do so (Amos 3:3), so we ask that you help us to find a place of agreement, unity and like-mindedness.  Break down any walls or barriers that have caused separation or misunderstandings.  Let these relationships be made stronger because of the work that you are doing in them and through us.  Protect these relationships with your power and let it bring you glory.

God, for our other relationships that we are currently in that we need to continue with, help us to be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughtful listener], slow to speak [a speaker of carefully chosen words and], slow to anger [patient, reflective, forgiving]; (James 1:19). Let us show the kind of love that endures with patience and serenity, love is kind and thoughtful, and is not jealous or envious; love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant.   It is not rude; it is not self-seeking, it is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered]; it does not take into account a wrong endured.  It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth [when right and truth prevail].  Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening] (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).  Shape our hearts to have nourishing interactions with others that cause us to grow.  Open our hearts to love more and edify others how you intended.  Direct us in setting healthy boundaries in all our relationships.  Lord, lead us to consider [thoughtfully] how we may encourage one another to love and to do good deeds (Hebrews 10:24).  Help us to nurture and cherish all our relationships by bathing them in prayer including our relationship with ourselves.

God help us to not isolate ourselves for protection against people, but instead Lord let us be drawn to fellowship with other likeminded people.  Guide us in the development of having a healthy relationship with ourselves where we can be open and honest with ourselves about who we are, weaknesses the we need your help with overcoming and learning to truely love oursleves no matter what.

We love and appreciate you Lord.  In Jesus Mighty Name We Pray, Amen!
